How to Create a Virtual Directory - WSP

A virtual directory in WebsitePanel is a path that is mapped to a resource/folder on your hosting package.  If you have folder or website that is nested deep in a page tree(e.g example.com/example/of/a/really/deep/page/tree/shop), creating a virtual directory allows you to create an easy to remember URL(e.g. example.com/shop) that is mapped to the same folder.

To create a virtual directory:

1. Log into your WebsitePanel Hosting Space (cp.domain.com or serverIP).
2. Mouseover the Web icon and click Web Sites.
3. Click the domain name needing a Virtual Directory under Web Sites.
4. Click the Virtual Dirs tab.
5. Click Create Directory.
6. Provide the following:
   • Directory Name: Create an easy to remember name for the virtual directory.
   • Folder: Choose the actual location of the directory in question.
   • Click Create Directory.
