How to Create and Manage FTP Accounts - WSP

FTP (File Transport Protocol) is a network protocol used to conveniently transfer files between you and the server or vice versa.

• Create an FTP Account
• Modify an FTP Account
• Delete an FTP Account

Create an FTP Account

To create an FTP Account:

1. Log into your WebsitePanel Hosting Space.
2. Click FTP Accounts under Hosting Space.

   

3. Provide the following:
   • User name: Username for FTP access.
   • Password: Password for FTP access.
   • Home folder:  This setting lets you specify the default directory for ftp users.  Leaving it as a backslash(\) will allow the FTP user to access all your website content.
   • Access Rights: This section lets you specify the FTP account's permission.
     • Read: This setting allows the FTP user to access the data but not add data.
     • Write: This setting allows the FTP user to add data but not access the data.

       

4. Click Save to create the FTP account.

Modify an FTP Account

To modify an FTP Account:

1. Log into your WebsitePanel Hosting Space.
2. Click FTP Accounts under Hosting Space.

   

3. Click on the user name you want modify.

   

4. Modify the following:
   • Password
   • Home folder
   • Access Rights
5. Click Save to save your changes.

Delete an FTP Account

To Delete an FTP Account:

1. Log into your WebsitePanel Hosting Space.
2. Click FTP Accounts under Hosting Space.

   

3. Click on the user name you want to delete.

   

4. Click Delete at the bottom of the page.

   

5. Click OK in the dialog box to finalize the deletion.
