How to Add and Manage Domains & Subdomains - Plesk

The Windows Plesk control panel allows you to host addon domains (different domains that you may point to your server for hosting) and subdomains (these are extensions of your domain, such as store.example.com). This article covers the following topics:

Managing Addon Domains in Plesk

Creating an Addon Domain

To create a new addon domain in Windows Plesk:

  1. Click Websites & Domains in the panel on the left.
  2. Click the Add Domain button.
  3. Fill out the following information:
    • Domain name: The name of the domain you want to add.
    • Location of the website's files: This should show the primary domain for your control panel. It does not need to be modified.
    • Hosting type: Please select Website hosting to host a website for this domain.
    • Activate the DNS service: Ensure this is checked if the DNS records will be managed in Plesk.
    • Active the mail service: Ensure this is checked to enable email addresses for the domain to be hosted on the server.
    • Document Root: Please enter the directory name where you wish to store the files for the domain.
    • Preferred domain: Plesk will automatically add a URL rewrite for the preferred domain format (with www, without www, or no rewrite).
  4. Click the OK button.

Deleting an Addon Domain

To delete an addon domain in Windows Plesk:

  1. Click Websites & Domains in the panel on the left.
  2. Click the Show More button in the section for the domain you wish to delete.
  3. Click Remove Website.
  4. Click the Yes button in the popup dialog.
     

Managing Subdomains in Plesk

Creating a Subdomain

To create a new subdomain in Windows Plesk:

  1. Click Websites & Domains in the panel on the left.
  2. Click the Add a New Subdomain button.
  3. Fill out the following information:
    • Subdomain Name: The name of the subdomain to add. For example, if you want to add new.example.com, enter "new" in the box.
    • Parent Domain: The domain the subdomain will be added to (The domain must already be added to your Plesk panel)
    • Document Root: Please enter the directory name where you wish to store the files for the domain.
  4. Click the OK button.

Deleting a Subdomain

To delete an addon domain in Windows Plesk:

  1. Click Websites & Domains in the panel on the left.
  2. Click the Show More button in the section for the domain you wish to delete.
  3. Click Remove Subdomain.
  4. Click the Yes button in the popup dialog.
